The oil you see on top of the jar is completely natural. During our grinding process, the sunflower kernel's oil rises to the surface over time. Should it occur simply give it a good stir before enjoying.
If you've noticed your baked goods turning green when using sunflower seeds as an ingredient, don't worry! Sunflower seeds contain a natural antioxidant called chlorogenic acid, which reacts with baking powder and baking soda. To prevent the green color, try reducing the baking soda and/or powder by 1/3 or add a teaspoon of lemon juice.

If unopened, our sunflower seed butter has a shelf life of 12 months. Once opened, we recommend consuming it within 3 months for the best quality. To maintain its texture and prevent oil separation, store it in a cool place.
